Bob Howard joined the firm as counsel in August, 2014. Previously, he was a partner at Hofheimer Gartlir & Gross, LLP for more than (20) years. His principal practice areas are estate planning and administration, federal and state income tax matters, and representation of closely-held businesses.

Prior to that, Bob was the head of the tax department of a 65-attorney New York law firm and prior to that was associated with a major Wall street firm in its tax department.

Bob has worked actively in the following areas:

  • estate, gift and trust planning and administration;
  • corporate and individual income taxation;
  • international taxation (representing foreign corporations and individuals conducting U. S. businesses; acquiring and financing U. S. real estate, and representing U.S. corporations with foreign business activities);
  • partnerships and joint ventures; real estate investment trusts;
  • equipment leasing;
  • corporate and real estate debt restructurings; and
  • general ERISA matters and income tax litigation.

Bob also provides estate planning services to a wide range of clients. He renders advice in connection with estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes as well as income taxes; plans for wealth transfers to family members and charitable beneficiaries; drafts wills and trust agreements; plans for estate liquidity needs; and provides advice regarding asset protection.

In the closely-held business area, he advises on business structures, shareholder and partnership agreements, and compensation planning. He also represents clients in connection with acquisitions and sales of businesses.

Bob also represents clients in connection with prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Bob is a member of the American Bar Association (Sections of Taxation and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law) and the New York State Bar Association (Trusts and Estates Law Section). He is the author of numerous articles on tax subjects and is a frequent lecturer. He enjoys an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
